Just Julie: Family Portraits make the best gifts!
I must say I am super lucky to have a friend who's an awesome photographer! This year gift giving is going to be so much easier since we've had some awesome family photos taken. My friend Jessica, a member of our local Natural Moms group, has such an eye for photography. She knows just how to capture candid and realistic expressions and our kids know her which made our little photo shoot that much easier.
We met at a local park on the Indian River and the kids were instantly hamming it up. Hubby and I were a little more nervous since we don't really like having our photos taken and don't consider ourselves photogenic. I just wanted to share with you all, my readers, how some of them turned out! Super amazing!
If any of you are in the Space Coast or Central Florida area and are looking for an affordable and talented photographer I urge you to contact my wonderful friend Jessica Manzano. To take a look at more of her work in her portfolio please visit her website http://www.jessicamanzanophoto.com/. To become a Fan of Jessica Manzano Photography on FaceBook click HERE.

I just know that Beyonce would get a kick out of this video. It is too cute! Love that the Baby Mamas are showing off their slingin skills. My favorite part is when they twirl the fabric end of the sling. Too funny!

Wipe Out! A Cloth Wipes Tutorial
When I first began cloth diapering, one thing I never thought I’d do was use cloth wipes. For some reason, the thought was a little gross to me. But then, the sample pack of cloth diapers arrived, I began (loving) cloth diapering my son and I realized that I had to have a special trash can just for wipes in his bedroom.
I also began thinking about the money that I spend on wipes. I usually try to get mine on sale. Let’s say I spend about $1.50 a week on wipes, assuming I’m using one package a week. That adds up to $6.00 a month, and $72.00 a year. For me, those savings were worth trying cloth wipes, especially if I was doing diaper laundry anyway! You can buy great wipes at Earth Angels Diaper Company! They also have all kinds of wipes solutions you can use on your new, deliciously soft, wipes.
I decided to try making my own wipes. My mom is a quilter and she had all sorts of left over flannel material in cute baby patterns that she let me have. So here’s a step by step process of how I made my own flannel wipes. Please keep in mind that I am by no means a professional sewer!
1. I doubled up the fabric with the pattern side facing outward and cut out 6” squares.
2. Then I set my sewing machine to sew zig zags (later I experimented with other patterns like a square shaped zig zag and an intricate lace design).
3. I sewed around the four edges of the square.
4. When I was finished, I washed and dried all of the wipes. The edges had frayed a little and I had to cut the fray off.
You can either keep your wipes in a container with water and wipes solution or you can keep a small spray bottle in the wipes box and spray each wipe as you need it. I prefer the second method!
If you haven’t tried cloth wipes yet, give it a go! I think you’ll find, like me, that you (and your baby) prefer the softness and naturalness of cloth wipes (not to mention the savings!). Plus, think of how many extra cloth diapers you can buy with the money you spend using cloth wipes!

Just Julie: I'm trying to have a thrifty Christmas! (with pics of my finds!)
You may remember me saying that we're getting a puppy for Christmas. She will be our MAIN present and despite the long list of items my daughter has asked Santa for, he will only be giving the kids a few small gifts and some stocking stuffers.
Trying to be thrifty during the holidays is a real challenge and it's super easy to just buy-buy-buy! However with all my online adventures I am usually able to come up with some super thrifty gifts, great deals, or creative ways of getting what I want. My husband doesn't really keep tabs on what I'm up to but when I show him my stash of goods and explain how I came by it all he is usually really shocked!
Just the other night he was shopping on Amazon. He had a few things in his cart and was just getting ready to checkout. I asked what he was up to and he explained he had a gift in the cart for me and a few small things for the kids. I asked if he'd price shopped and he said no. We looked around on the web at ToysRUs and a few other sites and Amazon did turn out to be the best value.
Just as he went to click SUBMIT ORDER I yelled "Wait!" In just a nick of time I remembered that I had (2) $5.00 Amazon Gift Cards that I had earned through SwagBucks! We were able to save $10.00 off that order and it qualified for free shipping.
Another cool thing was that I had $25.00 in CafeCash from CafePress.com that I had earned. I used that to purchase 2 T-Shirts for my niece & nephew and didn't have to spend a dime!
I used a Coupon Code for a Free PhotoBook and made one for my Mother-In-Law as a gift. (code has since expired)
I also used a Coupon Code for Free PhotoCards and got 50 Free Christmas photo cards & envelopes. All I paid was $3.19 put of pocket! (code has since expired)
Plus, I try to trade with as many wahms as possible when I have an opportunity to (for my graphic design services), for anything and everthing and have quite a little stash of wahm goodies to use as gifts as well. Currently I have finger puppets, wool dryer balls, knit shorties, cloth wipes, crochet play food, mama pads, chalk board mats, jewelry and more!
Aside from the above things I have mentioned I have picked up some things at yard sales and have also been given some used toys that I plan to use as gifts for my kiddos. Everything else I need I want to try and sew or make.
So what are you up to for the holidays? Are you trying to save big and score super awesome thrifty deals? Do you strictly make your own gifts? Do you only buy handmade? Let me know what you're up to and if you have any thrifty tips or cool finds, please do share!
*ETA: Please read the comments to see some new deals and promos that may or may not work. Please also share new ones and ones you know of via the comments! Thanks!*

Happy Heiny Mini Onesize Diaper? Say what?
Did you know that Happy Heiny's makes a Mini version of their popular Onesize diaper? It's called the Mini OneSize and it's specially made with preemies and small newborns in mind.
Happy Heinys understood that some One Size diapers will never fit a newborn and that is why we have designed our Mini One Size. What is best about the Mini One Size is that it is not just for the newborn weeks. You can use this diaper from 4-15 lbs which for some babies can be 6 months-1 yr. This will help to get you through those early tricky weeks when most babies leak through all one size diapers.

Fluff in the Spotlight: Happy Heiny's OneSize Diaper
Happy Heiny's OneSize Diapers are this week's Fluff in the Spotlight! Haven't ever tried one? Well you should! These fabulous diapers are luxuriously soft and made to fit baby from birth to potty training, from aprroximately 8-35lbs! They're available in Snaps or Aplix and are even available in a Mini size for preemies!
Happy Heiny's uses only high quality materials in the production of their diapers AND their custom milled fleece is so soft your baby is sure to love it!
Happy Heiny's diapers are also available in over 22 colors and several adorable prints! Their prints are now ALL polyester laminate so you no longer have to worry about your print diapers wicking, now they'll function exactly the same as your solid colored diapers.
Each onesize diaper comes with TWO free microfiber inserts, one small & one large. For newborns you may only the need the small and for toddlers you can use either the large insert or both inserts for added protection such as overnight or on long car rides, etc.
My personal experiene with Happy Heinys has left me very satisfied and I find their diapers to be more generously sized then some of the other OS diapers on the market. So if you're finding that your baby is on the largest setting of your current diaper you may just want to give a HH Onesize a try, I think you'll find that you'll have more room to grow.
Stay tuned this week as we focus on more Happy Heiny's diapers that you might need the scoop on!

Just Julie: I burnt the cheesecake...and other Thanksgiving thoughts!
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone has a great day filled with lots of yummy food, family and friends. We're going over to my brother-in-laws house to spend the holiday with his family and I am honestly looking forward to having someone cook for us for a change. Also, they have young kids so we can relax and let the kids play without having to worry about child-proofing, etc.
I'm responsible for the cheesecake. I made one last night and burnt it! I really almost cried and would die of embarrassment if we brought a burnt cheesecake to the dinner. I can just picture everyone's faces as they bite into the cheesecake, assuring me it's "mmm, yummy" when in fact they're thinking ewww, this tastes burnt...and being able to tell by the way they're chewing that they don't really like it.
I was seriosuly bummed. If you knew our family you'd know that my cheesecake is like the MAIN desert, it always turns out awesome and costs a small fortune to make, there's no way I'd bring a burnt one. So, after much late night distress my husband went out to the store to buy me some more last minute ingredients so that I can try to redeem myself this morning by baking another one...wish me luck!
The weather man has promised us a day in the 70's, hopefully some in the 60's, and we're much looking forward to the cool crisp air. It just doesn't feel like the holidays when we're sitting here in the 90 degree heat.
I have much to be thankful for, mine and my families health, our home, my beautiful children, and my hard-working and loving husband. I am also so thankful for cloth diapers. Thankful that such creative wahms exist who invented today's modern diapers. Thankful that I discovered them and began my business. Thankful for all the wonderful wahms and customers I've connected with online. Thankful for my Blog and all it's readers.

My Review of the New Duo Diaper from Thirsties
It was my pleasure to review the New Duo Diaper provided to me by Thirsties! From the moment they announced it's upcoming release I knew it was going to be a great diaper and I was ecstatic to get to try it out before my sons are completely potty trained.
When the diaper arrived I was so happy to see such a high quality insert. The Hemp Jersey is amazingly soft and trim and combined with the two layers of microfiber that you snap on top this diaper is sure to become a fast fan favorite!
Also, the front and back pocket openings are generously sized and very stretchy, making them super easy to reach into and position the insert, it's easy to see how it will agitate out of the diaper during the wash cycle. We all know that removing soiled inserts from diapers before laundry is one of the dirtiest deeds, especially when the insert has slipped down and you have to reach in to remove it.
So, how did the diaper work when we put it to the test? Well since my sons are potty training I knew that they'd put it to the test if I left it on them long enough to pee in. I put the diaper on Spencer, he's 34lbs and 3yrs old. I put him down to nap in it but he woke up dry. I left it on while we went out to run an errand and when we returned I felt him and could tell he had peed by the weight and feel of the diaper.
I took it off and it felt super heavy but hadn't wicked through anywhere, and this is especially unique because he had been in his carseat and usually the compression would have caused wicking if the diaper was full. It felt super heavy so I decided to take it's weight!
Almost 15 oz is quite a lot of weight and it honestly looked like it could have held quite a bit more. I took the diaper to the laundry and although it's not necessary, I wanted to take out the wet inserts to inspect it. I couldn't believe all that weight was being held by such a trim diapering system.
Something else to consider is that I had only prepped/pre-washed the insert twice so it's absorbing qualities will definitely continue to improve with more washing.
As for the fit!? It fits great as you can see in the photos below. When compared to a Duo Wrap in Size 2 it looks like an exact match. If you've found the Sz 2 Duo Wrap to be a tight fit on your babe or toddler you should consider that because you do not wear a bulky fitted or prefold underneath the Duo Diaper it is a much more generous fit than a Size 2 Duo Wrap and I would suggest you give it a try!
