Just Julie: What was your first "extra special" fluffy purchase?

PhotobucketWe've all been there, drooling over a diaper, one we can't afford or shouldn't afford. A diaper so cute that once you have it in your posession you hate for it to even get soiled for you know that the more you wash it the more wear and tear it will get. You want it to remain cute forever.

Sometimes these extra-special fluffy purchases only get taken out for pictures and special occasions. You love seeing your little one's bum in it but it is not a diaper you'll be using in your everyday rotation.

My first extravagant diapers were Just Ducky Baby Deluxe AIO's. They were so cute and the product photos for these diapers made it hard for even the most self controlled mommy to resist.

If a diaper could be considered yummy, surely these would Photobucketbe delicious! These were the diapers you show your friends when you talk about cloth, they see how fancy they are and they think you're a freak. Who would spend so much on something your baby would poop in?

So what was your first "extra special" fluffy purchase? And tell the truth, do you even let your little one wear it or do you secretly only photograph them in it and then take it off right away?

I'd love to hear your thoughts!

My first extra special purchase was a Blueberry Minky Trainning Pants.. They are SOOO adorable, I honestly wish she never poop on them!! LOL .. I have the pink/lavender dots and the pink on chocolate... And honestly, my daughter HARDLY ever uses them... They look very cute in the drawers!! :)

I waited & waited until I FINALLY had the PP saved up to score 2 Goodmamas FSOT on Diaperswappers & when they got here, I HATED them! I tried them on three different kids between the ages of 6 months and 3 years and it didn't fit well on any of the kids! I sold them at a local B&M cloth diaper store swap sale!

At least now, I know, I'm NOT missing out on anything!

LOL, pretty much anything Minkee is adorable!

And Stephanie, that is too funny. I have a Goodmama and never use it. I think it takes a long time to dry. But the velour is nice and it's nice to look at. lol

I can tell you what mine would be... When we first started looking at diapers I saw the Blueberry's and found one that was "Tanzanite" coloured. Since I've been to TZ and Tanzanite is my fav stone I immediately wanted that diaper. Lately I'm only seeing it in a cover (but we use prefolds more anyway lately lol) but I still can't justify it!

Beyond that... When we were stocking up on pockets the last month we bought a KnickerNappie instead of BG's... at the time it was a big deal because they were sized and we really can't get sized diapers. Of course it ended up being my favourite lol. We use it pretty much as soon as its washed lol.

I love KnickerNappies too! They fit my little guys so well. You should definitely try the KnickerNappies OS next time you're adding to your stash!

OOO! Those are now Urban-Fluff.com diapers! :) LOVE THEM!

My first extra special purchase diaper... a WAHM made "They Call Me Mr. B" embroidered diaper - for my NOW five year old (he was 2 at the time!)

What's funny is... I donated it to Miracle Diapers, with much hesitation, but felt great when I finally sent it out to a recipient.

Just last week, that recipient outgrew the diapers and returned them for a larger size... Guess what diaper was in there?! The "Mr. B." Diaper.

I don't even remember who made it - but we loved it!

Lisa, that is a great story! And how great that it got returned again to be sent out to a new home.

And yes, Urban Fluff used to be known as Just Ducky Baby until she had to change the name of the biz.

Oh I love the Knickernappies, too!! :) I also love Goodmamas! Especially the new T&T ones.

I also had 3 Blueberry diapers.. AIOs, that I got a while back while she was having a sale, and I LOVED THEM!!

Nothing really fits my 40 lber anymore! Knickernappies, Urban Fluff, and Goodmamas are about the only thing that I've been able to find. I'm sure there are more out there.

Oh.. and the Mr. B diaper.. yeah, he only wore that one to show off!! :)

Well I'm new to this but the one I can't wait to get & will probably only use on him on special occasions is a WAHM wizard of Oz dipe! It should be here in a few weeks!!

I must be a little boring (and probably cheap too!). When I first started to CD, I only used prefolds and covers. So my first "splurge" was a One-Size BG in pink for my little girl. I still love it and have gotten a few more along the way. For a cute diaper, I actually made my older girl a purple fitted diaper w/ monkeys all over it - she loves her monkey diaper!!!! There are so many dipes out there that I would love to try, but I have such a hard time spending the money sometimes when my good 'ole prefolds work great! Sorry I'm kinda boring!

My first "extra special" purchase was for BG OS's and 3 Mums Bums. 2 years later I am still using them as well as Goodmamas and Thirsites. My 22 mo old is in his last days of the BG's.

I have been drooling over the Blueberry minky dipes, but have yet to buy one! I'm afraid if I do, it will not get used! :)

I recently won a weehuggers, which are definately splurge-worthy! It is so trim and the little hands for the velcro are so cute!

I have knickernappies and the OS are great! Daytime or Nighttime!

It was two embroidered berry plushes, paid WAY too much but they were SOOOO cute! The funny thig is that I ended up selling them back to the mama I originally bought them from, months later!

Not sure if this counts but mine was when I finally purchased some minkee and made my daughter a super cute dalmation print minkee AI2. It was the diaper we always wore when going out to show off.

I am on a VERY tight budget so I shop used dipes, but I guess my "splurge" was a purple JamTots Berry Plush cover with 4 inserts that a wonderful mama sold me for $15!!! That made it extra special since I honestly couldn't have bought it otherwise. It is one of my fave sets now, especially under a short dress--so cute!

I just bought some adorable dipes I've been pining after during the Goodmama sale. I can't wait until they get here!

I'v honestly never bought any extra special fluffy diapers. I just can't justify it. I can't even bring my self to buying one of those diaper sprayer things that connect to the toilet, that I know I would SO use, I don't even have a wet bag which I SUPER SO need.lol

I guess I'm just silly like that.

My first was a brand new Goodmama in the 1981 print. I paid full price for it and I LOVE that diaper. I've made a couple other frivolous purchases since then, but that was the first one.

nattyrf511, you can buy the materials for less than $10 at Home Depot or Lowe's and put it together yourself (or the hubby, it's easy!).

Because I'm new to CDing, my first cloth diaper purchase was extra special. After talking with friends who took the plunge, I bought one Haute Pocket on clearance just to see if we would even like using cloth. The only color available was hot pink. My poor son wore his hot pink diaper every night for two weeks, and I washed it every day with tender loving care so he could wear it again the next night. I really didn't want him to poo in it for fear it would stain the beautiful white fleece. I have since tried other brands and (until I have the money to splurge) have come to love his celery Knickernappies One Size with a LoopyDo! He'd wear only his diaper every day if it wouldn't expose his tender skin to too much sun! :0)

Honestly, I haven't made a single Fluff purchase yet and I've been cloth diapering for 2 years now. It's not that I wouldn't want to, it's just I never knew these things existed. I have my oldest son in Mother's Ease OS diapers and my youngest in Bummi's organic prefolds. I'm gonna go look for some extra cute fluff right now!!!

Honestly? You're going to think I'm so lame! I scored a WAHM OBV newborn ooga booga dipe with the blue, orange and green oogas. I paid just under $10 for it new with shipping! But I am so excited and can't wait until this little bean gets here so I can put it on him! DH was like "It's so teeny, it won't even hold my fist" LOL.

Oh my gosh Catie that sounds soooo cute! You'll have to come back and share a pic of your new little on wearing it when he gets here!
